Analyzing this open exchange between an owner and neophyte reminds me of Sun Tzu's The Art of War, (or the art of ownership) written approximately in 400 B.C., listed five basic factors for a commander (owner) to consider during an battle (public dispute):
The Moral Law, or discipline and unity of command (owner fail)
Heaven, or weather factors (neophyte fail)
Earth, or the terrain (neophyte fail)
The Commander;(neophyte fail)
Method and discipline, which included logistics and supply (owner fail)
It's simple for the knowledgeable to dominate when the inexperienced doesn't realize they are over matched. It's this time when competent command (ownership) needs to be most sensitive to the gap. This avoids alienation of neophytes and erosion of fair minded loyalty.
Given Sun Tzu's model and in a zero sum game the owner was defensive but won this exchange. However, a better long term strategy for ownership here is the Pareto Efficiency

where win/win/win educates and engages all positively.
