it was revealed that they made 5,000 of these.

Thanks, BStrauss3, I was curious about how many of these they'd produced but hadn't got around to looking on the CAC forum to check.

It will be interesting to me to see how this turns out. I am not a CAC member, so I can't submit coins if I wanted. I had filled out an application probably 5 years ago but did not immediately send it in and that quickly it closed.

@hokie

When I first saw the slab I thought this is PCGS reissue of the old green holders with a CAC sticker.

@psuman08, I'd been checking occasionally for collector memberships to open for several years, and when they did briefly in early 2021 I sent in my application. It closed very soon afterwards and as far as I know has not opened back up since. The main reason I wanted to get a membership was because there were no dealers in my state which were authorized submitters, and I wanted to have the ability to easily do it. I've yet to submit any coins, but plan on sending a batch in before too long.

With just a quick glance, there is some similarity as you say. However, as mentioned the differences quickly become apparent because of the CAC watermarks on the front and back of the label, the CAC imprint on the lower right side of the holder and, of course, no PCGS name . And, the holder itself is distinctly different in-hand, nothing at all like the PCGS holder.
