@TigerShore, Atrox answer on my presumtion to be from Master Die or Working Hub. Those are not errors they are some sort of minor varieties.

IMHO your lasts photos show an aged Die. I will check also this to see on mints coins.

Sorry I will study your visions and come back when I will return in my office.

Silvioso, Please also take a look at the letters in "Half Dollar" they look tripled along with doubling in the upper part of lettering in "United".
I assumed it would probably be a variety since it was found on so many coins but just have not found much on this and it is
kind of enjoyable hashing through this with so many points of view. I have no false hopes of finding errors and just want to hear
what everyone has to say. I have wide shoulders so do not worry about hurting any feelings here. I appreciate your time.

You should be able to find that mark as part of the design on some of the reverses for 1971-1984, (P,D,S), RDV-004, reference Variety Vista.

I am indeed finding the notched medallion and doubled ray on my 1972-D's (3 of them).

question to ask is: did the Mint design them like this, or is it on the Master die? If on the Master die then all will have it, making it common.

I believe alot will have it but not all for some reason. I find many that do not have the double ray. Some even have swirls in the medallion without the double ray.
Probably some out od control vartiety that has not been picked up on before. I reviewed Variety Vista's RDV site and saw no pictures of doubled rays at all.
Does anyone have a good source of RDV's other than Variety Vista?

Been back to see my cardio, I will post partialy presumsions of this issue.

DEAR: IMHO was only one Master Die with this anomalie and was used as nothing new in different years. I past 2000 coins and left me another 2000 to look. When I finish I will give my statistic. Damage I allready realease more then 10k coins to can have a good vision of the %.

This topic is good because I find another anomaly which it is more rare but come from reworked Working Hub. I will be back and post photos.

@TigerShore: The rays are not doubling. Depending of the angle we look we will have this impression.

time to DoDo.

Silviosi, The lines are thickened and do not change when viewing from all angles under my scope.
I have seen nmany of these coins and these rays are definitely thick and unusual. Might even be Die
deterioration causing the thickening. I have moved the coin in all angles and have the same view of the rays.
I understand how Machine Doubling can reflect light and have already tested that theory. it does not disappear.
Your thoughts?
