"Security" Rolls On Ebay - Beware Of Imitations!

Not sure where to post this info but just looked at current ebay listings for Australian decimal coins and there are listings for coins in flips with Downies labels stating UNC but the pictures show coins that are definitely NOT Uncirculated. Too easy to swap coins in a flip.,Maybe this has been going on for ages and silly me has only just found out?

There are lots of dodgy sellers out there, is there a dedicated noticeboard that we can raise alerts on? I think as a community of like minded people we would benefit from raising alerts to dodgy practices. Ideas?

I certainly would not touch it with a forked stick but of course I am biased.

Ends of roll are a bit untidy and more untidy than the one I got stung with. Seller might be genuine but the "100% positive feedback " is as a BUYER. NO history as a seller but sellers do have to start somewhere.

By the way, for those interested - the seller who tried to rip me off has changed their identity on ebay. They are still out there presumably waiting for the right time to strike again. It would be great to find out if any of those other buyers who bought rolls of the same coins actually opened them and got what they thought they bought. I bet there are buyers out there who got ripped off and don't know it yet.

I would suggest that if anyone wants to buy a roll of coins that you should only do so from a reputable dealer.

Interesting that the item was withdrawn when those posts went up. Coincidence is not a reason for things happening...

There is another 2013 $2 coronation roll for sale soon that looks dodgy (to me anyway). The photo of the obverse end just happens to be out of focus but the end does look a bit untidy.

Seller's feedback does not include any feedback as a seller (like the other example) but does include positive feedback from two sellers who have been outed for selling fake c and c rolls of coronation coins previously.

The other thing I find interesting is the number of people who provide feedback using exactly the the same words. Too many coincidences for my liking. Looks to me like a group of rorters who sell each other cheap junk and then provide each other with positive feedback and then they run their scams.

Another interesting thing is that none of those sellers mentioned above have any other items for sale. Carry out the scam, hope the buyer doesn't open the roll and then they do a runner?

Of course after having been stung previously I am suspicious about such things. I just think that legitimate sales would not have so many question marks around them.
