Agree with MisterT on this one. F-15 maybe even F-12.

Let's just say this: I'll post the PCGS grade tomorrow. I will also post some of my research on this grade. I was surprised in some cases at slabbed assigned grades. I looked at several slabbed comparables and figured I could go up to a certain $ point. Once again, another bid would have knocked me out on this one. It's a pretty nice coin for the grade in hand; I'm completely content with this purchase. Need to take better pictures. I frankly think it makes a solid VF20. But what do I know? Nice to finally have a 1909-S Indian after all these years. I remember being a 10-year old collector and pining for that holy grail of a 1909-s Indian (not to mention an 1877). One down, one to go.

I tried to get better pictures of the obverse with different lighting to better show detail. Have to say I like the coin.

Must say that these progressive images are not a credit to your photographic skills.

I'll upgrade to VF-25.

Any more surprises?

Guess I'm not taking pics at your next family reunion. Interesting to see the swing in opinions. Here is a coin of the same grade by the same TPG. I believe my coin is slightly stronger with no verdigris. BTW, the guy wants $593 for this one.

Slabbed picture looks much better and I could get to VF-20 but I think 25 is a bit of a stretch. This just shows how hard it is to accurately grade a coin based upon pictures alone. Congrats on a nice addition to your collection!

I was obviously having trouble getting accurate pictures. Slabbed coins are tougher to photograph, I think. I'm pleased with the coin and was surprised I got it at my bid. $5 higher would have won it.

Wouldn't want to own this in a holder with those corrosion spots. Pass.

You're looking at the wrong pictures. There are no corrosion spots on the coin I bought. I put the other pictures up to show another 09-S graded VF25 by PCGS. I agree about that coin - seller asking $593 I believe. I think my coin is better than that one by far.

I'm in at $412. Pretty happy to finally get an example of this date in my collection.
