Guess The Price - Season 87 - Winner:͏͏͏͏͏ ttkoo!

It was very interesting to watch that round progress with the very wide range of guesses. I'm glad many of you liked the coin and that it looks like you guys don't think I overpaid for it. Lol. I didn't even really have a good idea on a fair price when I purchased it, either.

I bought this coin back in September at the Ohio State Coin Show. I was talking with a seller and browsing his display case when I saw this coin (reverse displayed) and it just stood out to me so much that I asked if I could see it, even though I anticipated I'd have to put it back, expecting a $400+ price tag. It is ex. Dr. Andy Singer, whose tag notes "Normandy barn hoard found in wall within flint." An asking price of $225 seemed reasonable considering the great condition, superb eye appeal, and the provenance. The actual purchase price of $222 was negotiated because that was the remainder of the cash I had on me. It felt a bit odd making a larger purchase outside the area I normally collect, but the coin just "spoke" to me, so I couldn't pass on it. I'm glad I didn't.

This was a difficult coin to accurately photograph, and I almost didn't submit it for GTP for that reason. Fortunately, I was able to get jbuck these updated pictures, which I believe are very accurate to how the coin appears in hand.
