.....condition really matters.

On one Russian-speaking forum, a person shared such an idea. Probably a very small percentage of collectors really think about the state of their collection, that their coins are not perfect and have traces of circulation. Striving to achieve the ideal is a goal that not everyone pursues.

At a collectors' gathering in my city, I saw an elderly numismatist digging through a box of old kopeks. There were not the best coins in that box, the price was appropriate. Then I thought it was important for him to close the hole in the album and move on to the next coin than to save up and buy something really worthwhile.

What I've learned is that many people see errors where there are none.

I also learned that "user error" aka " PMD" is the most common error.

I can relate. Most of my original album holes were filled from circulation. When it came time to buy the coins that I could not find, I had no problem fishing them from bargain boxes. At least those sets look consistent to my eyes.

Indeed. Hopefully we bring knowledge to most of those coming here with such expectations.

I've learned some fascinating era history that goes along with various coins. Pretty cool to pick a coin up and transport yourself back to that time in history and think of the rough roads, women and whiskey that passed hands in between travels.
