Great notes and discovery story on those $5.00's. Those are amazing "150" notes, perseverance pays off!! When those "150th" notes came out I wasn't actively searching bundles, but I did pick up one bundle and tucked it away. After I retired, I got back into searching and I went through that bundle and to my surprise there was a CDA 4-digit radar.

I could only wait a day or 2 before I would have to search it. Did you notice that my radar was "one # off" of a descending/ascending ladder radar? 7656567 instead of 765 4567 Your CDA radar is an awesome score but its also "one # off" from amazing. Imagine the premium if it were 1867681

I noticed that, so close! That "one # off" is so painful sometimes, like the one I found this week!!

I'm not a big note collector like I am with coins, so book values and premiums for notes are a foreign language to me. However, I do keep an eye on the serial numbers when I do have cash and just pulled this 2 digit radar with the Lane - Macklem signatures out of the ATM yesterday. No idea what type of premium this would bring (if any) but I thought it was neat.

Quote:Nice 2 digit radar @JohnWayne007, congratulations! Lovely 2 digit radar! Re: premium- it depends entirely on the condition. Check the note's holographic strip (vertical silver-see-through section) up against a strong light source. Search for scratches. Many UNC polymers get scratched during production & its tough to get them without scratches after they've gone through the ATM machines. If your note is flawless (no scratches or impairments of any kind) it could be worth 10X FV to the right buyer (less so with scratches/other impairments). I would put your "neat" radar in a proper currency sleeve too (for protection).

Don't know anything about Canadian notes. What is the appeal of this?

@Coinfrog, this banknote was issued to replace banknotes that were damaged or destroyed before they were put into circulation. The letter "X" is added as the third letter on banknotes with a 3-letter prefix to denote that it is a replacement.
There was only @560,000 printed for this signature pair which is relatively low. VF is around $30 and EF is $65.

Thank you for that information, Enyaw. Like Coinfrog, I know very little about Canadian banknotes.

Quote: There was only @560,000 printed for this signature pair which is relatively low. VF is around $30 and EF is $65. -That's an incredible note to snag for FV @enyaw, congrats The BoC issued 850,000,000 Lawson Bouey 2 & then 3 letter prefixes $2.00 notes. At the beginning, replacements were designated with an asterisk or * in front of the 2 letter prefix, such as shown for this *RE replacement: By the time the BoC exhausted the 2 letter prefix system (& were into the 3 letter prefix system, over 1M replacements were designated with ABX. However, most collectors were unaware of this change. Late in the series, the governor/Deputy Gov signatures changed to Crow Bouey & 170,000,000 of these 3 letter prefix notes were issued with only 0.5M ABX replacements. The collector community was late in catching on o the ABX (3 letter) replacement format so they became tough to source in higher grades (often tougher than regular Lawson Bouey asterisk 2 letter replacements, like the *RE above). Hope that clarifies why @enyaw's find is fairly significant (especially 40-50 years after the note was issued). I suspect that these type of finds are often from collector stashes that were returned to the bank, since the relatives had no idea & simply deposited them.
