Wow, when I started this topic (as suggested by jbuck) I forgot to click the subscription button and had no idea these great examples had been posted. Excellent additions everyone!

Thank you for starting it, GLB! And thank you jbuck for the impetus. That's a great bridge coin, GLB. I've been over the NRG bridge a few times, and can't believe that people willingly parachute off of it.

Quote: can't believe that people willingly parachute off of it Many years ago when I was working on the high-rise buildings in downtown LA a guy parachuted off the building across the street which was over forty floors high. We watched him all the way to the ground where there was a car waiting for him. They drove away quickly because he would have been arrested if caught.

Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam on an elongated 5 euro cents coin: Tower Bridge in London on an elongated British penny - the die can't have been made in London, as they've called it 'London Bridge': This one has a much cruder picture of the bridge, but at least they got the name right! Please note that 'London Bridge' is NOT Tower Bridge. It was the original medieval bridge across the Thames between the City of London and Southwark. The medieval bridge was replaced in 1831 by an elegant stone bridge, which was dismantled in the 1960s and replaced by a nondescript modern bridge, still called London Bridge. The 1831 bridge is now at Lake Havasu City in Arizona.

Bit of a rough case, but this 1792 halfpenny token depicts a bridge in Coalbrookedale, Shropshire. The bridge is the 1779 Iron Bridge over the Severn, which gave its name to Ironbridge, Shropshire. (D&H 12)
