CCCS is still behind on doubled die varieties so its somewhat expected (to me anyway) as they lack the resources to accurately identify and attribute doubled die varieties. The 1965 is a doubled 5, and the 2012 I have had the opportunity to examine first hand thanks to chadcoins and can confirm that it is a very impressive DDO. With that said, PCGS, NGC and ICCS will attribute doubled die varieties listed by me, as long as references from my book are included for already published varieties, or a letter is included confirming a new variety written directly by me. CCCS doesn't have any references by me as of yet, so they are still behind.

Yes CCCS is a good certification institution and yes we have to get them on board with the DDs varieties. I do have about 50 coins ready to go but hesitant now!! Good to know any new DDs varieties in the future have to go through John for proper attribution and documented.

In regards to the 1965 5 cent DDR with Lathe lines. Even getting a letter from John and submitting to ICCS it says on their form that they do not grade error coins. This mean to me that it may get a doubled die recognition but will never get the error recognition is this correct? Which grading Co. would?

I sent John a massive inventory of DDs to document with coins in hand and the 1965 was one of them.

Cownick, you are correct ICCS doesn't certify errors, however, they will attribute varieties if they have proper documentation either from the Charlton, or some other forms of reputable resources. Personally, I use PCGS for all of my doubled die varieties that I submit, since most of the world trusts the judgement of PCGS and other TPG's seem to follow in their footsteps, I went with them as Canada has some amazing doubled die varieties that deserve just as much attention as the US doubled die varieties do. I don't use ICCS or NGC directly, but some of my readers do and they have had good success getting Canadian doubled die varieties attributed with my aid. In the last couple years, I was entertaining the idea of opening my own attribution service for Canadian collectors but it did not seem ideal with all of the well known TPGs already on board with most of my documentations, but now with all the things going on in the world and collectors hesitant on sending errors/varieties across the border, I may revisit the idea if there is enough interest.

Very nice Enyaw. I was quite happy to find the 1951 DDO in MS 63 at a coin show last weekend.
