Here's a coin that depicts a ship that used sails, paddle wheels and a screw propeller for propulsion. The coin is a 2016 commemorative Silver Dollar from Canada that marks the 150th Anniversary of the successful laying of a Transatlantic Cable by the SS Great Eastern in 1866.

The SS Great Eastern used its paddle wheels and propeller as its primary means of propulsion - each was driven by a steam engine. The sails were included for auxiliary power.

The coin shown is the selectively gold-plated version included in the year's Fine Silver Proof Set.

Here's a commemorative Silver Dollar issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2010 - it helped to mark the 100th Anniversary of Canada's Navy.

The commemorative reverse design of the coin presents the HMCS Sackville - a World War II era Corvette in the Canadian Navy. Today, it is a museum ship located in Halifax, Nova Scotia..

NOTE: "HMCS" is an acronym for His/Her Majesty's Canadian Ship.

very nice coin commems
Around the outer rim on the reverse side of the coin is a morse code message which states the motto of: "Ready Aye Ready" and the French translation at the bottom "Prêt Oui Prêt"
