Italy issued quite a few steel coins. This is one of my favourites - 100 Lire 1978:

Excellent coins, mrwhatisit, IndianGoldEagle, NumisRob and erafjel!
Here's one that arrived in a lot this morning - Sweden 5 Öre 1947. Not sure how an iron coin gets a rim ding!

The Vatican City issued coins to the same specifications as Italy, so naturally their 50-Lire coins were made of stainless steel from the 1950s to the 1990s. This 1958 50-Lire shows His Holiness Pope Pius XII on the obverse; the reverse shows a personification of Hope with an anchor.
