The fake listing is down - good work! Just for a laugh here is the ebay policy on replicas. I say laugh because they are probably the number one seller of easy to spot fakes in the world! And I feel certain they don't mind. "Replica currency that follows our rules can be listed on ebay, but replica coins and counterfeit currency are not allowed. We have rules for listing replica currency that must be followed in order to keep ebay a lawful and safe marketplace. Counterfeit currency and stamps, as well as the equipment to make them, are strictly prohibited. What is the policy? Replica coins are not allowed Counterfeit or altered coins and currency are not allowed, nor is equipment designed to make them Only one-sided replica paper currency that follows these rules can be listed: Size is less than 75% or greater than 150% of the genuine currency The listing includes a photo of the actual replica paper currency being sold The listing includes the word "replica" in the title and description. https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/...cId=HELP1542

Quote: I say laugh because they are probably the number one seller of easy to spot fakes in the world! And I feel certain they don't mind. Not even close. Temu, DHGate, Alibaba, AliExpress, Etsy, and many more. Most of the Chinese sellers on ebay have given up and moved to one of the others. New ones pop up but after we get their listings removed a few times they move on. There used to be hundreds of sellers with 100s of listings, all being fake. It's been cut way down. So they do care.

Quote:@classic_coin as others have mentioned any fake is against ebay tos. If that's the case, great. Quote: Not only that, but one day these fakes will change hands and may not be labeled as a fake. Someone is likely to get dupped sometime down the road. That happens, ebay or not. Caveat emptor, always.

Has anyone ever received back a message from ebay's AI saying something along the lines of, "Gosh golly gumdrops, you're right, they are indeed violating our policies! Thank you for reporting this criminal activity, citizen!"? I've never heard of that happening.

Not quite in those words, but it did happen once. From my ebay messages back in February; Quote: Thanks again for reporting the problematic content you found.
What happened: We looked into your report and removed the content. It may take up to 24 hours for it to reflect on the site. This determination was made using automation or artificial intelligence.

ebay has a strangely inconsistent policy with "replica coins" I've purchased a few replica coins, with complete awareness they were just copies, not the real thing. But then, when I tried listing some replicas for sale, ebay purged my listing. There are 100s of "replica" coins listed on ebay, at this very moment (do a search on ebay yourself, they're easy to find), but chatting with an agent it was repeated over and over that "replica" coins were not allowed. But wait . . . there are pages of these currently listed, I can see them myself, this makes no sense. After a very weird scripted response repeating that their "specialists" are checking all replica coin listings, the chat session was immediately terminated. Something strange is going on there . . . ebay has to know these listings are there, but they are very selective about who they purge, will not provide any info about how their selection process works? Not sure what ebay's angle is on this, but something very sketch is going on with all this.

For a while, ebay was allowing coins that were clearly/marked/stamped "replica or copy". I think that replica or copy also had to be in the title of the auction, not just in the description. I may be wrong, but thought that I remembered that from 2-3 years ago.

Just never ends. From China, no stamps, nowhere in listing called out as replica/repro/counterfeit. https://www.ebay.com/itm/176278451239Reported and canned response from AI did not find an issue, listing remains active. Image for sake of those with more 'pull' getting it knocked down.

ebay has all sorts of listing rules that they are completely unable or unwilling to enforce. I have reported many dozens of fraudulent listings over the years with hardly a single one resulting in a takedown. I don't bother any more, just a waste of time.
