How is it rarer then the 1911? Only (2) 1911 were made, right?

Gee HHb, for a collector of 3 years you are well versed in the rare coins of Canada. I am surprised you did not mention the JOP variety (recognized) of the 1935. With your limited exposure to Canadian Numismatics you have been privy to some incredible examples! Well done.

The JOP dollars have a counterstamp - not a Mint issue.

As for the 1911 dollar, its a Pattern and only exists because a mint employee decided to keep them. There are three (3) - two in silver and one in lead. Two are in the Bank of Canada's money museum, and one is held by a collector.

Not that versed with Canadian coins but I can read comments. No one stated that either were "official" mint issues. Official means released to the general public.

Semantics...don't ya love em

Hello Gopher,
actually the NZ mule is a mint issue as far as I know.
Jop dollars pop up here and there.
George Manz has them frequently.George is one of the few honest dealers that I know.
My exposure to coins, thank you for your kudos. I do learn fast and when it is my $ I spend..., well, lets say I am selective, but trust me, I did pay for some coins the hard way...the learning curve is expensive. That is my reason why my grading is tough. Rather err on the side of caution instead of bringing money.

check here, u see pictures of some of my coins which sold there a couple of weeks ago. the 25 cent 1872 was not mine, but the next 3 most expensive were, including a Double struck 1967, a 1966 small beads and a 1948.

look at the April auction. Ifyou want better pictures..., I can post them.

good night..

As an Aussie lover of both NZ and Canadian coins, that mule would have to be one of the most appealling coins. It looks a great grade too. The interesting thing about the obverse is it was the RCM modified effigy of QE2 and used only on NZ coins for 1984 and 1985. Would love to know what price it went for.

Very true regarding the pricing of rarities. Even major rarities tend to fluctuate in price from sale to sale depending on how many people are after the coin and just how serious they are about acquiring it. ~ Jim
