From Norwich in Norfolk, Britain, a nice heavy tuppence token issued ca. 1812 by Robert Blake, who made fine dressmaker's fabrics and advertised as "The Bombazine Man."

Re-reading the legends on this piece today, I'm struck with the realization that of the hundreds of tokens that circulated during the Regency Period this may be the only one that announces that it was struck FOR CHANGE NOT PROFIT...more explicit, for some reason, than the usual "For Public Accommodation."

Further research required.

Fascinating token, daltonista! I had to look up bombazine: a twilled dress fabric of worsted and silk or cotton.
