Quote: How about buying the ungraded version and then have it graded? That would and should be from a respectable dealer.. On ebay, too many RAW coins are doctored to look better and could turn out to be an MS63..

My luck it would end up a MS63 or 64 Quote: You could have it cross-graded That could be an option with an NGC one if it comes down to it. I'm not in a big rush, so I'll keep watching for now plus it gives time for my pocketbook to recover

Quote: Just got the 1981-P MS65 in the mail today... It certainly appears to be Gem. I assume it was inexpensive. (40 or $50). Gems of the '81-P are rather elusive but there are relatively large numbers of just misses.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

Ended up getting this 1981-S PCGS MS64 SBA. I was looking for an MS65 but they don't seem to be anywhere to be found. I even checked the sold ebay listings and there hasn't been one in quite awhile so I settled for this MS64 one. I'm happy with it.

Quote: I was looking for an MS65 but they don't seem to be anywhere to be found. seamonkey, it's still a very nice coin, from your picture, it looks better than the MS64 rating it has... Yes, I couldn't find an NGC or PCGS in MS 67. I had to settle for an ICG 66+, which I don't like. If I crack it out, I might get a 66 out of it, but it's staying put....
