NumisRob Bedrock of the Community United Kingdom 17915 Posts	Posted 09/21/2025 02:28 am Isle of Man 2 pounds 1998 (found in circulation in England!): I think we are straying from the topic with a couple of the recent posts - this was meant to showcase circulating high value coins. I very much doubt if any of the big cupro-nickel crown-sized coins issued in the name of territories like the British Indian Ocean Territory or the South Sandwich Islands actually circulated or were available at face value from banks on these islands. They are nice coins but I don't think they belong in this topic. NumisRob Bedrock of the Community United Kingdom 17915 Posts	Posted 09/22/2025 4:34 pm This is the largest and highest face-value coin that I've ever received in change - 1978 Panama 10 Balboas (equivalent to US$10): Although described by Numista as non-circulating, these 42mm, 45g coins were definitely in use in 1984-5: I paid for something from a street vendor with an American $20 bill, saw some of these among the coins he had in his cashbox and asked for one in change.
