And now they are on their way back down... My gut feeling is that we have reached the new normal for both, at least for the time being. They soared up, perhaps a little too high, and have fallen back down a bit after a correction. I don't think the bubble has burst, but at the same time I really don't expect either to suddenly take off again anytime soon. And, no -- you may not quote me, since I'm probably wrong.

Indeed. I was just coming here to post the same thing...
Of course, they're not exactly soaring up.

True. Gentle waves. Enjoy the ride and hold on to what you have.

Next year it will probably be cheaper to pass out silver dimes than candy bars................

Well, things definitely seem to have settled down, with gold stabilizing at just around $4000 and silver at around $48. If this is where things stay for the foreseeable future, I'm actually OK with that. Sure, it was exciting to see everything go up so rapidly and think about how much my investments in gold and silver were increasing in value, but it was also a bit worrisome due to what the rapid rise might mean about the stability of the economy as a whole. Having $10,000 in silver is nice, but not if I have to pay $100 for a loaf of bread at the same time...
Anyway, the current price point means I have actually made a good profit on my investments while not making future purchases completely out of the question.

I agree with that assessment. So does my financial plan.
