What song is silver singing today?

Killing Joke's "Eighties" of course.

There was definitely selling pressure earlier above $88 but I didn't see high volume, so it's probably that there's just not enough buyer's to push through. If we don't close above $87 today and start climbing, this sideways chop could continue for days.

Well, as I said earlier, I don't mind a little sideways chop for awhile. Just as long as the trap door in the floor doesn't swing wide open again...

Well the good news, for right now anyway, is that today's daily bar appears somewhat greener and taller than yesterday's daily bar, that's somewhat bullish, for now anyway

Trying to predict where we'll ultimately end up is an excercise in futility. Market chart technicians and options traders use mathematical formulas that closely predict the range within which a stock will move, up or down, but not exactly when or in which direction they'll occur.

Exhibit A- the quote below was written the day before the crash. As you can see it was expected in the options market that the 60 day low would be $75, silver crashed to exactly $74 the next day, before bouncing back up.

Quote:
Puts are too risky right now. Safer bet is to buy a strangle. Something like a $75 Put and a $145 call, that's the expected 60 day range. As long as it stays within that range to expiration you're making money.

I prefer to follow the science, and not the opinions.

However, nobody could have predicted that it would crash and make that huge move down on that exact day, in one trading day. But it certainly was expected that it could eventually go there.

I think the new "expected 60 day trading range low" right now is around $60, I forget what the high end range is but regardless,

My point is, don't be fooled, "IF" when it hits $60 the bears all emerge proclaiming aha!! we told you it's a bubble or something like that. When in fact it was always a probability, just as much as hitting $93 and $103 are a probability. At which time we'll hear silence.

Bold prediction: we are going to stay above $70 for the rest of the year.

jbuck, this may actually be proven to be correct.

After reviewing the charts today, (on my day off) I've noticed something quite interesting that's worth mentioning; One of the intraday charts shows gaps in price, starting from when silver went parabolic in the $70s and shot up to $120

Price gaps are essentially like skipped floors. When price moves so fast that it skips floors, it is natural and expected (basic trading 101), that eventually the price will return and resolve these areas, or "fill in the gap". What's interesting is that when silver crashed to $74 it filled in a large gap in the mid 70s, where it has, since then, found good support and moved up.

What else is of interest; is that there are no more obvious large gaps below $70. BUT there are a couple large "missing floors" above us that could use a little filling in. There's a gap beginning roughly around $95 and another at roughly around $105.

This is all from a purely technical standpoint. Not investment advice
But my dancing fruit are standing by just in case.

All right, I don't think jbuck will need to change the title of this thread again anytime soon, but it's still awfully nice to see things heading back in the right direction!

I went to bed wondering what I would see this morning and I see we are back into the 90s.
