Anyone care to guess what the average selling price of the sets will be?

Last year's Flowing Hair Gold auction was a dress rehearsal for this one.
You may be right.

In Canada, the 5 cent coins are Nickel plated Steel. So if the US goes that route they should be called Stinckels.

Remember that the Swedish rounding is for the total purchase, not each individual item. There is no way that this could cost consumers more than a few cents per year.

The US kind of botched this process with the lack of an official, legal rounding system once the 1 cent coin disappears. I understand that there is a bit of a bureaucratic problem with rounding for those who use SNAP benefits. This all seems very silly for such a small thing, a few cents per year.

That will work.

Quoted for Truth.

It is not really necessary. This is elementary level maths. Something every... kid... in... oh, bother, I forgot where we are.

Will the 1 cent actually disappear? Will tax on purchases always make the final price end in a 0 or a 5? - No.
There is a stronger chance that we move to a cashless society before the Cent disappears. Uh Oh, opened a can of worms on this one..

Those 232 sets aren't going to be the last ever cents. I do believe Bessent reiterated that cents will still be produced for collectors. I fully expect to see 1776-2026 cents in next years proof and uncirculated sets.

Zincolns with an omega sign stamped onto them are still Zincolns.

US Mint, please for the love all things holy, mint the collectors cents in the old 95 pct copper alloy, like you did for the 2009 proofs and uncs.

I hope they don't send those pennies to be melted away, especially for collectors.

It would be awesome if pennies ever returned after Donald Trump's term is over. The round up part is one of the worst parts.

Taxes on totals already have to be rounded to the cent. Rounding to the nickel is just as easy.

And the next person who brings up sales taxes requiring cents is going to get perma-banned.

That's close, but the quantity is off. It's 232, not five

Actually the FIVE is correct. That is referred to the very last FIVE cents out of the press and they are supposed to be auctioned with an estimate of fetching 2 to $300,000 per coin
