Jeder deutsche und Oesterreichische auktionator kennt mich. UND.. ich habe schon einige faelschungen in DE aufgedeckt. also schreibe mal kraeftig... ich habe eine firma.. die heisst travelband. hhb

Attached is an image of an overlay of an authentic 1948 dollar over the counterfeit 1948 dollar. The overlay dollar is faded out so that the counterfeit can show through. When this is done, its clear that the legend and portrait are not properly aligned. In fact, they are way out. Had it not been for hhbkiddo's efforts with the 1948 dollar, I would not have paid any attention to it. If this coin were made over 15 years ago, others were likely made as well. Probably everyone who bought one paid full price. Knowledge of counterfeit 1948 dollars was known of many years ago, but no record was made of them. And that more than anything is what is unfortunate here.

Your new image aligns better - but it still does not align properly with an authentic 1948 dollar. I will revisit this in the morning.

HI Brutuss
I just wanted to mention that you should not hold the coins on your fingers that way. It can leave fingerprints and that lowers the value of your coins. You can either hold by the edge or lay flat on the table for pictures.

malissadawn, I use a discontinued Microsoft product called Photodraw (last issued nearly 10 years ago). There are better products on the market. On Photodraw, the feature is called Fadeout.
