got my third one in change at a pharmacy this morning. it is ding-free, but discoloured: not greasy, nor dirty, but there are patches of shiny, bold colou (60%)r, alternating with paler, matte areas (about 40%). That's my third in 10 days, but none of them worth putting into a 2x2.

regarding the 5-cents on ebay: he's got one bid of $40 + postage for $4 worth of current coins ... excuse me while I steady myself ... and I note that he attempts to fuel interest with speculation that the 5-cent will be "fazed" out. Peter in Darwin

Quote: Queensland. Oh dear! Sorry, but can you be just a little bit more specific? eg, SE Qld, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Central Coast, FN Qld, or out the back of woop-woop. I want to know where those 2010 5c are convening.

The Royal Australian Mint generally seems to release commemorative coins struck in fewer numbers, before the release of the definitive issues, struck in larger numbers.
I think that is why it is possible to find the commemorative coins in circulation first.
They have never issued commemorative $2, 10c. or 5c. coins, probably because of the smaller size of these coins, where it is harder to perceive the design intent.
