I have them all except for the 1981-S Type 2. For anyone looking to purchase SBAs, pay particular attention to the eagle talons. Stay away from mushy talons and look for the best strike possible.

biokemist6: That's kind of funny you have 81 Type 2 proof and not the Type 1. Why is that?

Oops, I had it backwards I got my 1979-S T2 out of a bank teller's scratch tray so it only cost me $1 To this date, it is the only Proof I have found in rolls or circulation but it was a doozy to find.

If you're only going to find one proof it may as well be a rare one. What kind of condition?

My SBA collection is date-mint with proofs, but no varieties. That is, I do not have either Type-2 or the 1979 Near Date/Wide Rim.

I have it in one blank SBA dollar page that I added to an existing Dansco album (Can anyone guess which one?).

If you were counting, that is fifteen coins. The page holds sixteen though, and I do not like empty holes, so I put the 1982 proof set medal there.

I would call my 1979-S T2 a PR60. It does not have any wear but it does have some scattered hairlines, a few fingerprints that I could not remove, and an unfortunate counting machine scrape across the date but it appears to be in better shape than most proofs found in the wild.

I have 8 SBA's. I add to them whenever I can, but they're pretty scarce here in OZ.

I have a almost complete set, just missing the 2 Type-2 Proofs, It was my first set I completed, and I consider it complete because the Type-2 Proofs are technically varieties so I don't know if I will ever get those or not.

Ah, one would think that is the obvious guess, but no.

There is no room in the Eisenhower dollar album for an extra page (it can only hold four pages).

The album I put it in had the room.

Oh, I'm not familiar with which ones have room. Haven't tried to any pages yet to any of the few Dansco's I have.

SBA's were actually what I started collecting with, and I have a full set....including the medal from the 1982 Proof set. And I still love them. They're a great set to pursue.
