Quote: Personally I can't see Estonia getting in just yet. The economic crisis may mean that the EU will not want another boat in the sea at this time. You may well be right. As I wrote, the Estonian government aims at January 2011 - whether that means the country will be "in the boat" then, is a different issue. Just read an article in "Der Spiegel" online (German) today which says that due to the current situation, "the chances of Lithuania, Bulgaria, Estonia & Co. to become euro area members have worsened." Which basically translates to "Yes, some of the current members have interpreted the stability criteria very flexibly (France and Germany too, by the way). Yes, you newcomers have gone through a lot of efforts in order to get in. But, you know, these are tough times, why don't you try again later, and have a nice day." It is perfectly OK to scrutinize the economic data provided by any aspiring euro country - constructing new hurdles, however, is a No-No in my opinion. But that may be beyond the scope of this topic ... Christian

Hmmm. Some of the remaining slots in the euro coin folder II may be empty for a while.

Will it? There had been rumors about a possible €2 commem dedicated to the shipwreck of St Paul and introduction of Christianity in Malta (in 60, thus 1950 years ago). A papal visit to Malta is apparently scheduled for mid-April on that occasion. But as for a coin, well ...

A 2 euro CC coin for Italy will be released in September 2010 by the look of it.

That's an approximate issue date for Italy 2010 2e CC only. I read it in a document from the Italy Mint. I think it was the 2010 Programme. It said September. I also thought in would be issued within the next month.

Apparently we are both right. Seems that the Cavour €2 coin is already (or will very soon be) available, but only if you buy the FDC (BU) set which includes the eight regular coins and the Alfa Romeo silver coin. If you want to, you can order the set from the mint: http://www.zecca.ipzs.it/cgi-free/d...od_artic=249 But the "raw" coins will indeed be issued later this year ... Christian

I collect those 2 euro CC:s as part of my European collection, but I usually wait and buy a bigger set of those at once a year or something like that. San Marino, Vatican and others in that price range are not for me. Some of them I pull directly from circulation (all Finnish ones, some Germans, Frenchs) of course. I hope that CC:s quality and beautiness will remain and develop
