Hi All, The main things that attracted me to this hobby and kept my interest was: • The notion of actual collecting something. • Researching coins • History • Beauty • And somewhat investment. All bar the history component and to a much lesser degree the beauty, I have lost interest in the rest of the components. On this note I just wanted everyone to know that my attendance in this forum will decrease even further then it already has. I will still drop by from time to time and say hello, in the hope that later down the track the passion may re-ignite. (one can only hope) I must say I did very well in my Olympic games quest recently and am very happy with the montage I created. I am going to keep some really nice historical maybe also a small amount of German and Australian coins but the majority of my collection will be going on ebay over the next few weeks. If you want to grab a bargain before it hits the internet, please send me an email of what you are chasing and I will let you know what I have. I will still be heavily on the internet over the next week, so please feel free drop me a line or reply to this post. Thanks and Take Care, Lars

Lars, I hope something down the road will spark the interest again. My interest level has waned from time to time, but never enough to leave the hobby behind. Good luck in whatever you pursue and we'll hope to hear from you from time to time. You will be missed! Mike

Lars I do not know what you call partial retirement I applied for retirement on the first day allowable which is 1st july 2007 If you are selling the coins for additional capital wait with the common silver and gold coins till ( probably )2009 if you can American disclaimer ; this should not be construed as investment advice but a personal opinion

Sorry to hear that mate, I'm sure you have given it a great thought but I still, would suggest that you think that one more time. But of course it is your decision and all I can do is respect that. I didn't know it would affect you so much that the German team got out of the cup

The National Hurricane center in Miami has rooms and rooms full of magnetic tapes of data but no one with the time to research what's on them and learn whatever there is to be learned from them. This is the same problem that coin collectors face today and IMO, it will be more and more of a problem. Computers and the Internet give us too much capacity to aquire more and more faster and faster. And at the same time, that capacity creates more and more need for the time to "process" it all, to research our stuff, to catalog it and to simply enjoy what we have. It starts to become a sterile matter of plugging holes and checking off lists since that's all there is time for. Computers and the Internet are the classic example of a strengh riding on back of a weakness--There is still only 24 hours in a day, technology can't change that. Good luck KLD and remember we'll still be here when it's time to home again.

Lars, Forgive me if I mis-interpret what you say-The tone of remarks indicate discouragement; There isn't anyone who is immune to it. Allow me to share someyhing: Ten famous writers all had these temporary maladies- Ernest Hemingway, was one of them, John Steinbeck another-Taylor Caldwell, Thomas B Costain and others- I think it was Hemingway who said, sometimes, he would sit for a half day without so much as writing a paragraph. Same with John Steinbeck- They were grappling for the right words- but the doldrums intereferred. Here is hoping the very best for you that your temporary discouragement will fade away. In my own 52 years of this hobby-it has been the historical, the athestic, and the challenge that kept me at it- I'm betting you will find a new spark once again. Dewey

Hi All,
I thought I would add some words.
Dewey: I do not mean any harm in the words I said nor do I promote discouragement or anything negative to the hobby. I love the hobby I am just a bit discouraged myself and need an extended break to re-asses.
Renal: I did think about it several times over several days and came up with the same answer.
Steve: Close enough on the translation, I'm touched you found a translater.
Ageka: Not seeking capital return, just cleaning out the folder. Not much of great value.
To everyone else thankyou for the kind words.
