Yes, that is a curved clip. Value is just a few bucks. Nice high grade coin, though!

Technically, it is called an incomplete planchet.
It looks like you have a nice one. The photos appear to be a genuine error, but closer, head-on shots would be better.
Hard to determine if it is a small date or a large date. I'm leaning towards small date.

Unfortunately, my camera only has the stock lens so its hard to get pictures close up. Bad focus. But there are distinctive cut/tear marks that I read about on the curved edge. Where half is cut half is pushed out. And I'm pretty new to this and it really interests me, but I don't know much. How does the grading work? because both of you said it looks good. Thank you for replying quickly by the way.

it goes on a 70 point scale. and the grades are Poor(PO-01) Fair(FR-02) Almost Good(AG-03) Good(G-4 or 6)Very Good(VG-8 0r 10) Fine(F-12 or 14) Very Fine(VF-20 through 30) Extra(or Extremely) Fine(EF(or XF)-40 through 45) About Uncirculated(AU-50, 55, or 58) and Mint State(MS-60 through 70)

Large date 1960. BU MS-63/64. Blakesley affect on the reverse. Nice find.  |

You think that's a large date coop? When I tried to zoom, it got a little distorted.

I'm not sure what a large date is, and if its simply a bigger date than most other pennies, then yeah the date on this one is bigger than that on a few I just looked at side by side.

I uploaded a couple new photos that are closer up to maybe help with the large date/small date. is a large date better anyway? rarer?

Those pics are much better!  The '60 Small date would be the better coin, but I can see now that it is a Large date. Still a very nice find in very nice condition! |

I wish I could get better pictures to show everyone what you're talking about, coop. I do see it in hand. I only have a simple magnifying glass that I use. I really want to get a closer look. What you you guys use to take photo's of your coins? Or should I just get higher res so I can zoom with less distortion?

I'm just using a regular old point-n-shoot, zoomed in and take the picture through my loupe.
I can see the Large date just fine in those last pics, by the way.
