Thanks for the link, but what about checking the value for older bills with star notes? I have four $5 bills that are silver certificates, all from 1953.

No longer am I a, "Valued Member", but rather the "Pillar Of The Community". I'm not sure what to make of that. Well here are the four star notes I have. They aren't in the best of shape but I was offered ten dollars a piece at an out of state pawn shop.

Personally, I would keep the nicest one and happily take $10 each on the others...

Post from the CRH forum. Enjoy
"Found another 1964D at work today. Another good find, silver is silver!!
On another note, I went to the bank today to ask the vault manager to order me more dimes. As she was placing the order I was talking to a nice girl teller ;) that happened to be just sitting there. She asked me, "are you looking for silver?" I told her I was looking for anything interesting, not necessarily silver. She then asked me if I have ever seen a blue dollar bill. I looked at her and I said, "huh?" She pulled 5 of them out and said look. I noticed she had 5 1$ silver certificates. So I asked her if I could buy them she said okay. I ended up with 1 mint 1957, 3 avg wear 1957, and one fairly abused 1935. Btw, can someone tell me why one of them has a star on it where the serial number is? Thanks."

The star on the end of the serial number means there was an error in printing, so they replace that note with a star, since two notes cannot have the exact same serial number.

Does it make a difference if the star is in the front or the back of the serial number?

Found a 1993 $50 small head. Probably will end up having to spend it though. Too bad, dont see too many small heads any more.

1988A $1 in my drawer yesterday. Beat all to heck, but--1988, SERIOUSLY? Also a pair of $5 from 1993, a year I never see even when I get small heads. Unfortunately, it was before my paycheque came in, or I'd have a lovely only-one-fold-in-it 1993 for sale on ebay.

I've never owned a red note and I know its in really bad shape, but doesn't make a difference. My mom told me it was a waste to get that from the bank. I said to her, "how? I know its in really bad shape mom, but it can't be less than 2 bucks."

Welcome and nice finds! I've been working at a McDonalds for three weeks now and I've only found one small-head $10 bill. It had a Granahan signature which dates it to the 1960s. I didn't get to keep it though. In other news, I received a 1988A $1, block A-E, the other day in change. 'Tis for my $1-$2-$5 block collection
