How Do You Take Care Of Your Tellers?

I give mine bags of M&M's! They giggle and thank me.....and they give me excellent service everytime I come in too. It's amazing how nice they are too me even though I only treat them now and then to the M&M's. IT WORKS!

Cutepenny, forgive my candor, but since when is the job of your bank to pimp for your hobby?

Listen, seriously, I know what you're saying, but I think if you think it over, you'll realize it's a little beyond that. For whatever reason (and, there are many, I'm sure), they're consenting to do you a personal favor.

BadThad: Do you find they prefer the peanut variety, or straight-up? I could always do both, money's no object.

Scotty11: I'll say this, you have an incisive understanding of the issue. I think thinking "homemade" is a great way of expressing personal thanks without looking like you're trying to, let me just call it, "compromise" them. Good one; I'd have never thought of it.

My wife knows I'm just a fun loving guy who likes people.

Well, let me just put it this way...if I give a small thank-you to "my" tellers in the form of a gift, I know my wife would have no problem, and if she was the jealous type she'd have real issues because some of the tellers are MALE.

Since we're being honest, let me just make one more point: These people make about $8-10 an hour if they are very lucky. I can't believe some of you would come in there week after week and not educate them about making a little on the side by keeping their eye on coins that come through their drawers. I know some of you go through boxes and dozens of rolls a week, adding all that extra work and potential debalancing to their plate. Why not help them out? The point made above about tipping a waiter is exactly right. Good personal service should be rewarded.

Of course I worked in college for a while as a drive-thru teller, so I'm biased. If just one of the collectors I'd dealt with had come off their ridiculous angle that I was some kind of "potential competition" and had educated me on what to watch for, it would have really helped me out. They didn't. We can do better than that.

Whatever good you do comes back to you anyway, by the grace of God.

there was a thread a while back addressing the etiquette of roll hunting. one of the ones I remember vividly is never take the same coins back to the bank you got them from. Make sure you establish a 'dump' bank. Same branch is ok. In my experience, I've made more tellers happy by taking their coins than giving them back. From other stories I have heard from members on here, DO NOT go back to the same bank to dump..

and also to defend my other comment about my jealous wife, I KNOW. I want to give them something! In my special circumstance, this whole issue came about from ONE teller that had been saving me a TON of solid silver rolls. My wife got suspicious as to ' why would SHE save YOU these valuable items" totally missing the point that we had just made $200 bucks on $20 face../.i told me wife I am just being polite.. making conversation, etc.. anyway, I'm praying she gets over these insecurities.. had I lived a different lifestyle before I was married, things might be different. I just wanted to shed some light on a complete opposite side of what you guys go through when addressing the issues we have done here...

Sometimes I take them a $25 restaurant gift card when the hold those new uncirculated boxes for me.
