My guess was AU50. What do you think holds it back?

Hmmm! My guess would be AU-53 BN. Nice detail. Shield has some dings as some other area around the background, I don't see any large scratches noticeable.

AU-50, some wear behind the ear, bottom hair curl and ribbon. Light rub on the cheeks and bow.

I was probably a little conservative on this one. Bottom line is, it's nice with great eye appeal.

I agree with AU on this one, it's a nice coin. There is some weakness in one diamond that could drop it to EF, but I think it's a weakness in strike in that area of the coin, rather than significant wear.

One reason I wouldn't call this a choice AU is because of the spot in the head dress and the discoloration around the ear.
