I use my spare ones for my 6 year olds tooth fairy. I think it's neat to give something different under the pillow. Unfortunately she came in the first time and said "all I got from the Tooth Fairy was to big quarters". She want's to trade me for two dollar bills. I guess I've got some work to do with her.

That is a good idea. I usually just spend them when I go to restaurants. I get interesting faces sometimes.

After putting together my sets, I had quite a few rolls of clad Keenedy halves and Ike dollars left over, all obtained at face value through my bank. I was wondering what I should do with them, and actually considered just depositing them back into my account. I was talking with the guy I deal with at the local flea market, and just happened to ask him if he was interested in any of these. He wanted all the Ikes, and the follwoing week got $1.20 each (which I used to buy more coins from him).

Cute toof fairy story.

About 15 years ago, they were running some "can't refuse" dining deals at a Hyatt. Since they had valet parking, I turned over the keys to the Fredd Sledd (67 Newport, sleeps six, 3' longer than a police cruiser). The driver looked kinda perplexed, then I realized he couldn't reach the pedals or see over the dash.

When he brought it back and readjusted the seat, I handed him a 71 or 72 Ike. He lit up like a Christmas tree: "gee, that's my birthday!"

Never turn in halves or Ikes. If you can't sell them for a premium, use them for tips.
