Quote: Well, I'm noticing that on the uncirculated coins of any year, it's apparent that Mr. MacNeil saw fit to craft her navel! Take a look if you haven't already. Aw, crap! Can a FH/FN designation be far behind?

I own nothing spectacular for this year, just another small flock of tired birds and more proof that TRUST always wears out before GOD does.

Great SLQs everyone! I know a little SLQ history has been mentioned in this thread. As I understand it, with the end of the WWI the designer felt the country would be open to a more symbolic coin.
Liberty stands with an olive branch to symbolize the peace of the end of the war. In the other hand a shield for strength, and a bared breast symbolizing abundance, that the needy of the world could come to the US for sustainance.
However, the general populous only saw it as a very immodest lady liberty. And the artist was reluctantly forced to modify his work of art. Maybe out of a little disdain for his task, instead of a subtle covering, he fashioned chain-male armor for our lady liberty. Although the chain-male does not extend down to the midriff as has been mentioned.

Moe145, that is a very interesting quarter with the lamination through the wing on the reverse. It has to a rare puppy with that type of error.
