I was going to suggest using the Columbus commemorative...it does have "1492" on it.

Okay, just to be clear, if anyone has 1491 they may post it now.

Will this thread reach 1481 before the second edition catches up?

jbuck, Why will you lock this thread if the #2 catches up. That's like a slap in the face for all the pioneers who moved this original thread along. If #2 catches up it should be locked and we'll enter new territory from here where the quest began..

I didn't think of it that way, but I actually agree - locking the other one makes more sense. That way the continuous chain is longer.

The way I see it is that the one that started first loses the race if it cannot stay ahead of the one that was started later.
One of them has to be locked because once they are in sync (both looking for the same date) we will have duplicate threads.
Why even have a second edition if it is destined to end while the first goes on? What about the slap in the face to those who worked to move that thread along?
To look at it another way, the first thread sets a record that the second attempt aspires to beat (as will the third).

What year is the second edition looking for? And where can I find it? Thanks!

Second edition is also in the main coin forum. Jbuck will refresh it periodically so that it stays on the first page of posts (as needed).
