I'm so sorry to hear that Rick. 3 days is pretty fast. Didn't even give you enough time to prepare yourself, but then again you're never prepared to loose a friend.
Rest in Peace

So sorry Rick, I lost a great dog with a full life over ten years ago, and waited 8 before I got Shadow as a pup. Now I have no idea why it took so long, it just did.
Now Shadow goes with me almost everywhere, and that's no small task, he's a Great Pyrenees/ Lab mix, about 120 lbs of pure love. I sincerely hope you can replace Chance soon.

Sharktoy, very glad JOJO is doing better.

SOrry rick, I know its got to be hard. A dog is the only being that never is mad to see you or disappointed. JoJo has been at the beach already chasing birds. He should not me running but he is a wild stallion and can't be stopped. :)
Rest in Peace

Sorry to add more sad news but Susan, our Forum Mom let me know that her cat "Magic" passed away today. Susan adopted her in 1990. I got to see Magic when I visited Susan and Bobby in September. She was a very sweet kitty indeed. My heart goes out to Mom and everyone else when these things happen. Mike
Rest in Peace

Rick, I am so sorry I missed this topic and am not responding in a timely manner. I lost the one thing I cared most about in my life this past June, my 14-year old kitten Nuisance and I grieviously miss her. I know what it means to lose a beloved pet and my heartfelt sympathies go out to you. I am told that time will take care of the absence, but I am not so certain since a little bit of us leaves when they do. Nothing can ever replace them, but we can still keep them in our memories.

Sharing with you in your grief.

I have had dogs and cats my whole life and I can still remember losing my first; Maggie (a Saint Bernard) when I was 10. 25 years later it still bothers me.
Pets aren't just companions, their our friends. Some people (including myself) consider them our four legged kids, and it hurts just as bad when you lose one.
To Susan: I'm sorry to hear of your lose.
To Rick: hang in there, spend as much time with him as you can and love him lots.
My HEART goes out to BOTH of you in this hard time.

Rick, I'm so sorry that you lost your friend. I can definitely share your pain.

I know that I was grateful that Magic didn't suffer and I'm glad that your Chance went so quickly after the onset of symptoms. I know it doesn't give you as much time to prepare, but I am sure that was best for him.

I firmly believe that we don't grieve for our lost loved ones; we grieve for ourselves. They are in a better place with no pain or sickness. We then have to endure the world as it is without them.
