Quote: Here's another 1892 Columbian half. These things are common enough that they can be found in the local silver melt tubs. I've rescued five of them in recent weeks, including this one. Bullion markets evidently have no shame.
A friend of mine melted over 6000 back in 1980. Anyone notice a shortage?

Second Commem. I wanted to get the small date 1934 D or S mint as they are the two lowest mintages of ALL the early commemoratives at just over 2,000 each, but settled for their more common Philly brother.

Great coins! I'll continue to watch and admire from the sidelines for the next few days. This thread makes me realize that my collection is limited and I'd like to expand to different types.
