If your kids knew how much they mean to you they may become a treasured family heirloom someday. You're lucky. Most kids these days would be hounding you to sell them and give them the money, or at least be constantly asking you how much they're worth.
I was the same way when I was in my teens (25 now) My dad had a very very old muzzle loader with incredible details. I would always ask how much its worth and why not sell it. My parents also own prime acreage around our small town and I would always say "Just sell and acre."
Well now that I have become almost obsessed with investing and the future, I have realized that if my parents die and will the land and other prized merchandise to my brother, sister and I. I will try to buy it all from them and hold onto it for the sole reason that its been a part of our family for around 100 years (grandfather owned) and I would want to continue it being our family heirlooms
