but if some of you have a close friend or relative who collects you could pass on the collection to them to complete, so that after several generations of buying and upgrading, you would have the entire set.

Right there with you, rachums. This is exactly what I think when I am working on my coins, and then I realize who I have to leave them too. It makes me cringe, but my relatives will be so excited to get my collection, because it will be a lot of change for the vending machines for awhile. Then I realize that I won't be around to see it, so I guess it is what it is. But I enjoy it, so.....

My Brother has a nice key coin collection with some great keys. 1909s VDB, 1889cc Morgan, lots of seated Liberty, Barber, Mercuries, and Walking halves, etc. He is giving me his collection when I go down there in August after I have a back surgery because no one else in the family has a clue about numismatics. He has a bad case of Multiple Sclerosis and is making preparations even though he has several OK years to live before he will be bedridden. He and I have been collecting bullion as we have similar views on the economic situation in the US even though he went to West Point and retired as a Colonel in the USArmy. He enjoys piling up the Gold Buffaloes to leave for his only Grandchild. As I get older I will have the keys slabbed and sell them when it is college time for the youngster as I have no children of my own. Numismatics are a great hedge against a very uncertain economic future.
