I keep all of them that are in good shape. They do have a slight resale value to some folks. They are getting more scarce, but I doubt anything under AU is ever going to be of tremendous value.

I have a few rolls of proof bicentennial quarters that I certainly hope are worth more than $0.25 each (coin, that is, not roll). Not a heck of a lot more, true, but people seem to be willing to pay at least $1-2 apiece for them.
I also have a half roll of 40% silver uncirculated bicentennial quarters as well as small number of some 40% silver proof ones. Those are probably worth more right now due to the crazy silver prices, but even if silver drops back down I would expect them to be more valuable than the clad varieties.
Basically, I just really love bicentennial coins. I know the standard versions aren't worth much (if anything) over face value, which is why I've concentrated on collecting the proofs and silver versions. Perhaps I'm deluding myself, but it makes me happy...

These are getting increasingly common in circulation. In this area they're up to nearly 2% of the quarters in circulation which means people are spending their hoards. Most of the ones I see are still in AU condition and nicer on average than 1998 quarters.
This has been going on for ten years now but has really accelerated since 2008. It seems the recession forced a bunch into circulation and now they are being spent because they seem common.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

Whenever I run across one I drop it in my coin box. They may be only worth 25¢ but at least I won't be broke.

I have a buyer that gives me 30 cents each for all I can get, and having two soda machines gets me quite a few.

I used to save them but have since stopped. It just doesn't seem worth it too me. I'd rather save all the ATB Quarters I get. I have found only 8 so far since the series started. |
