WOW - Those are sweet. I think I am going to order the 7070 album and start one too. It will take a long time but I am sure I will love every minute of it

i Have seen a Type Set in The Old whitman 2 book Type set .where every coin was Cu except for 2 or 3 . The Hardest but they were at least Ef/Au. I did not believe the Dealer Who helped His Customer put it together. Untill I held it in MY own Hands. and he also Was diverse from there He added more Varieties to it to MAke it More complex or Complete . I Wouldn't Believe this story form anyone My self . simply Amazing.

Bryan - you touched on a point that seems to apply to my entire collection. If I have a coin in a hole, and the album still lacks some coins, I'm more inclined to buy a coin that I don't have rather than worry about upgrading until I have the album filled.
Have to have some deep pockets to get some of the higher grade coins, and mine aren't all that deep, so I buy what I can afford without thoughts of resale value. Might be the wrong way for someone else, but it works for me.

Longnine009 - In answer to your question about reproductions, etc. - nope, I won't use 'em to fill holes. I've heard of a lot of collectors who do (the 1793 Chain Cent for example) and I'm not knocking them, I just want "the real thing". Which means I'll probably never own a Chain Cent.

I am the exact same way, I never think about how much I can sell the coin for if I need to because I will only pay (or bid)what I think the coin is worth to me and if the price falls into that space then I buy it. I am sure others think I paid to much for certain coins because if they didn't they would have paid the price I paid instead of getting outbid by me but I am fine with that because each and every coin I buy for a reason and never expect to sell them even though I have had to a time or two but I usually do pretty good when it comes to time to sale because I purchase the best I can find at the time and don't buy coins that I would be embarrassed to sale to someone else. I do have some coins that I bought when I first started collecting that are still in my collection because I was ashamed to even have them for sale (I sold mots of the ones I acquired at first because after learning they just didn't meet my standards) after I have learned as I went along so these coins are in a collection my 6 year old calls hers and I am fine with that because it at least sparks her interest in something that we both enjoy |

Okay - I bought my first coin for the 7070. Granted, I have coins on hand that I'll put in it, but this is the very first one I bought specifically for this album. 1883 capped bust half dollar - VF. Don't have in my grubby little hands yet - old boy's mailing it today. Photos when I get it. I think this is gonna be pretty spiffy. Ralph |

Hey guys - thought I'd post a couple of pics - these are the ones that were included in the auction. I didn't have to pay all that much for it - maybe because of the black stuff on it. Honestly, if I were you I wouldn't touch it. That coin has nice patina that would be ruined through dipping.

There is on the surface and in the surface.
The former is removed by acetone, the latter is untouched by it. What you have is almost certainly the latter. It's a nice coin. Don't touch it, you will only damage it.

Ok, gotta admit my ignorance here- I had no idea what a 7070 album was until I read this thread.  Turns out I actually started one several years ago and didn't know it! I have the album minus the gold page (maybe later), and it's about 2/3 full. Rachel  |

Don't touch that puppy it looks just fine the way it is just put it in the hole provided for it. You know once you start down the road with one of these sets there is no return. When you are finished it's time to up grade good luck.
