The observe was probably left a long time with contact to a leather purse or a wood drawer resulting in the dark toning on one side only.

Not sure it's worth playing catch-up, but I just plucked this 1933-s along with thirteen earlier Walkers back to 1917 that I did not previously have in my Whitman album, right from the local bullion bucket.
