When I purchased it the coin was described as the normal 1 so I was surprised to look at it more carefully when I got home and find it was misaligned.

Thought I'd share my Melbourne Centenary florin. Its not my favourite Australian pre-decimal variety, but it was the last one I needed to complete my pre-decimal type set. Also, nice 38 crown ADMISLSE.

Ozcoins: I got the doublestruck off ebay. I've spoken to The Purple Penny about them on a couple occasions. Scarce. I believe there's less than 20 of them around. But just like the $1/10c mule, it's likely that there's ten times as many around.

In reference to goatieman's post.

Nah,they are rare as rocking horse nuggets, hundreds of times rarer than the $1 mule.

According to Fred Lever the likelyhoods of:
DIES
$1/10c Mule is 1:100,000
ERRORS
Double-strikes as a 1:50,000
Brockages as 1:100,000
As for the main difference between the two (dies & errors)...I'm not sure. I'm not sure where &/if any comparison lies.

Well Fred would certainly know.
I'm just going buy what I see ,you see a fair few hundred mules before you'll see a double strike for sale.
Maybe once people get them they keep them where as the mules may go through a few hands every year so you see more of them.

Could be quite likely. I'm a bit of a brockage hoarder.
I've got a full 95% 3d 1949, a weak 1953 3d, my avi which is a semi-weak 1958 3d, a 6d (QE II), a 1d (QE II) & a 2/- (QE II), but boy have the majority of them cost decent dollars. The most expensive was the one below (full 95% 3d 1949); it cost me $1431 (inc. commission & GST):

As for my 2000 $1/10c Mule, I got a nice coin, above EF, so mine is not moving. Hard to catch a quality mule.
