Very nice paleoguy45! Is that clash of the star? I know there are alot of clashes with the shield on this one.

There's a major clash with the star on this one... Kinda gives it character..

Nice Three Cent Silvers everyone! I only have three coins to submit for the next 16 days so I'll sit by and enjoy the show. I'm also confident that with only three coins I can still win the ugly coin prize in this category. Here's my 1851

I was going to save this for one of the later dates, but it's clearly a type one. 1852 is as good as guess as any.

-->captainfwiffo--> I like that the dies are slightly rotated so that you can tell which side of the "pendant" was to be displayed when this was worn as a necklace. Interesting that the reverse was meant to be shown, I would have assumed the star would be the focal point of any jewelry made from the silver Three Cent pieces.

I've heard that a lot of these were kept on a wire or string in order to keep track of them because they were so small, rather than for use as jewelry. Rather than having them loose in your pocket, you'd have them on a string so they wouldn't get lost. Sorta like a coin purse, I guess.
The notion about the rotated dies hadn't actually occurred to me. If it had, I would have left one of the sides rotated in the image to show the rotation.

At least now I have something to post here. I've had difficulties working on the photos, never took some of this small of a coin. I remember when I received our collection, my grandfather had put this into the "token" bag with bus tokens and the like. Unfortunately, this is our only one for here. I will always think that these coins for this topic are the most interesting in our history and I get envious looking through the pictures.
