Looks like this one is back at it only after 2 weeks! The seller this time is https://www.ebay.com/str/childswearinternational and has a 98.9% rating with over 8,400 feedback and 127 followers!
This is a fake 1888, this reverse is a type 1 and a true 1888 only has a type 2 reverse. The "1" in the date is not correct as a real 1 has a flat serif and not one pointing down.
I am not familiar with Lincoln cents and am not aware of this doubled mintmark? Is this a common doubling? I looked at the image in PCGS coin images but those have a SM/LG date and the MM is above the 2nd MM, this one has the 2nd D to the right?
I received this coin in a group of other coins and I have never seen something like this. Is this a known error? or just a planchet flaw? Is there anyone who collects these? The weight is 2.45g
I am not understanding this and all of his auctions? Is he trying to bypass EBay fees and rules? Or is this some type of scam? This one auction shows up every week or other week for the past 6 months (or longer) and disappears but the BIN price keeps getting a little lower each time. Take a look at all of his auctions and all the pics, why hasn't EBay banned this account? https://www.ebay.com/itm/304728749715
For my rarest by survival rate it would be an 1843 Seated Half Dollar, WB-7. The following is from Bill Bugert's "A Registry of Liberty Seated Half Dollar Varieties, Vol V.,
Quote: This die marriage is currently unknown. Based on M.L. Beistle's description of his variety "2 B" in his 1929 reference, A Register of Half Dollar Die Varieties and Sub-Varieties, these descriptions exactly match a late die state of obverse 3 and an early die state of reverse E. Beistle evidently saw this die marriage and reported it in his reference so we think it must exist. Randy Wiley, Dick Osburn, and I have been actively searching for an example of this die marriage for years without success. Perhaps a knowledgeable collector will find one.
