I'm definitely on the 64/65 fence but willing to defer to PCGS's assessment at 65. Definitely better than the PCGS 65 I purchased earlier this year (and subsequently sent back for a refund). It oozes originality in hand which probably swings it in the 65 camp.
@smat Feel free to send me an email and I can share my source who is extremely well connected and knowledgeable.
I guess I should have said this is not the MM/Year to show off the peace dollar's beauty! 24/25/28 S are brutally produced. Here is the trueview for an extra peek into the surfaces (I know the forum's hatred of them). Feel free to cheat, I'm lazy!
This is my 58 which was sitting in my grandma's closet for the better part of 40 years before I rescued it for AU 58 reference. It did NOT CAC for reference also. I always error on AU on 84-S...
I took pictures at a steep angle to really show it in the worst light! Booming luster, bright white coin. I think it as least a 64 and honestly looks like a lot of my 65+'s.
Would you believe me if I told you this was in a 63 holder!?! I had to pay between 63-64 money for it but I have a feeling this is getting cracked and resubmitted. I was with all of you in my grading assessment, hopefully we are right!
This is why peace dollars get a bad rap! But yes, grading for this one is best left in had, and it is only technical grading as this toning will kill any value.
Not my area of expertise and honestly have no idea but willing to learn! Genuine or Chinese crap? I was only able to take a quick picture so the color is a little off, much more silvery in real life.
Well then.I can get on board with all comments above. I'd love to get into it at $250 but at $400 it is a bit of a gamble! My thoughts, it is offered as BU, when I deep dive on the pics, I can get there but upon a quick glance it looks like a slider 58.
