Any idea if the numicanada value is correct or are they more scarce than what is listed? How well should I protect this coin?

Thanks for the help

Guess I will hold on to it for some time because I don't see too many references to them out there. Checked ebay and nothing showed up for that variation.

I would keep it like mentioned they are hard to come by, I would keep this one and be on the hunt for mint states.

Mint state versions of the 74 no S, would be worth a boat load

Does mint state mean uncirculated? The one I have is in fine condition but I am definatley not an expert grader.

Mint State is another word for a uncirculated coin

Thanks for the info. Still learning the lingo. I checked on numicanada and top uncirculated list at 440. I guess the term boatload depends on the person using it.

I am looking for this coin. There is only 1 listed on ebay at the time of this posting. But I don't wanna pay what is being asked.

That one on ebay is fairly priced for the grade... it is a scarce type, and I doubt you will find an uncirculated one cheaper, unless you hunt one out of the wild.

In fact, I sold that very coin on ebay to that coin dealer - I can tell you he is not making much profit on that listing.

Looks AU to me. I sold at least four of those varieties to that coin dealer, all EF to AU grades.

I have some in my inventory in ICCS MS-63 and MS-64, but if you think that ebay coin is expensive, you definitely are not going to like the uncirculated prices!!

I just went ahead and bought it. Like I said it was the only one listed on ebay. I will let AU slide this time. It's coin collecting on a budget...lol Some of the more expensive varieties I'll have to take a slightly lesser grade. (All my halves are mint state/PL).After I finish the Elizabethian series, I will collect nice circulated George VI halves. Starting to get into big bucks getting into higher grade coins the further back you go.
