I drove down to the UPS Customer Service Center to pick mine up. Guess what? The driver was still out on his route and I won't be able to pick it up until tomorrow! Phooey!

Finally! I've got this beauty in my grubby hands! Initially I went ballistic because I thought there was a scratch on the check of the obverse. I oh so carefully removed it from the airtite capsule and gently touched the scratch with a Q-tip. It moved! Turns out that it was a small fragment of the airtite which must have broken off when they placed the coin inside of it. So....without further ado, here it is! 2013 RP Buffalo It is stunning in person! I'm so glad that I took the plunge and picked one of these up. It is the flagship of my coin armada!

IT is my favorite coin in my collection as well. I plan to add a few of the Buffalo nickels to partner up with it. Not sure what dates yet.

I think I decided I'm disappointed with mine... If I call the mint can I get a replacement or just a refund?

Stev18: Chances are you will get a refund or someone else's reject since it's "mint to demand". May be buying one from Silvertowne (free shipping this weekend), which you can return for an exchange if you don't like, then sell this one of your.

I love having it for my collection. But long term I'm questioning it appreciating as an ungraded coin. It's my first gold coin and maybe just a little disappointed that unless it says pf70 on it they are already selling for just under issue price. On the same token I didn't have the cash to preorder a graded one and now I feel like they may have seen the initial bump already and will likely hover around $2200 for a while... Obviously I'm just expressing worries since it's a larger investment for me. As a numismatic piece I think it's awesome I just don't wanna get paid spot for it 5 years from now if I need to liquidate it...

I am curious why so many people buy these types of coins expecting to make a profit the day they receive them. Don't get me wrong...I love a good profit, but when you buy something at retail...don't expect a profit for a LONG time. This is particularly true when an edition is made in a quantity that fulfills the needs of everyone who wanted one right up front. That means it will take many years for new collectors to want them in order to drive up prices. Seems the collector community are so incredibly hard to satisfy...make enough for everyone and people get upset they dont see an immediate profit, make a true limited edition that does see an immediate price increase because of limited quantities and people get upset because "they didn't get one". Buy it because you think it is pretty or fills a spot in your collection. If you are wanting to play the profit game, bullion coins are where you need to play.

Stev-
you did well friend, buying the reverse proof buff. It is going to accrue value.
I am a strong proponent that when you collect coins they do two things-
1- gives you a hobby you enjoy and learn much about and expands your horizons
AND
2- the coins you buy gain value over time. Some coins will rip and rip higher because of demand and others will slowly grind higher. I have a simple rule. If a coin I have purchased is even 5% higher from where I bought, in most cases over time it continues to steadily climb higher.
The reverse proof buffalo is going to be a slow grinder at this point. It is still a unique coin, it wont be done again and will be sought after.
So, dont worry, you are gonna be fine.

Yup7676: you're missing half of the equation in Reason #2. It's a little bugger called inflation. If you make 5% over the life of owning the coin, but in that same period inflation rose 9%, your money is worth 96% of buying power of the original cost of the coin. People invest in expensive coins for that quick fix turnaround or their intrinsic value. The bullion answer is the wiser choice.

Time will tell if the demands are going to make this one go up or most likely I think going to stay around the purchase price. The lower mintage doesn't always account for price gain toward future. Also too many TPG MS-70 graded.

Well to address unholy roller and yup:
I hands down bought the coin for my collection. I was not planning on flipping it or expecting an immediate gain. However I don't think I qualify as being unsatisfiable just because I'm worried about my investment. There was a premium on the coin from the mint and I was simply saying I personally think the graded coins will better hold their value... And I wish I had the cash at the time to get one

I want to address a few things- 1- I got this coin and all others because I enjoy coins, they are neat and I love learning and having something from a different country. I also did not expect it to rip higher out of the gates. 2- Inflation,,, whats that? The Fed has tried to inflate and they have.... but it has done NOTHING for gold and silver going forward. So please dont buy coins because you are hoping for inflation to run wild. Furthermore, even it should, it won't help silver and gold going forward. 3- Mac has a good point, actually GREAT point. Low mintage does NOT guarantee higher prices for coins. That's why I like to watch coins and their prices... when I see a coin start to take off, I dip my toes and buy one and usually 9 times out of 10 they do rip higher and stay there and give enough cushion. I will be asking the community for suggestions on grades and years and ideas down the road. 4- TPG mentioned about getting some older Buff Nickels. I am thinking the same just dont know where to start. I also like that older Buff set in silver that came out in 2001 was it? Mac showed me a pic of it in this thread. 5- Again, while I do buy coins I enjoy, I do also buy them because of potential increase in investment value in the future.

I got my graded NGC PF70 from Goldmart a few weeks back.... now they have the PCGS PF70 for around $2300.... I have to admit that I've saved around $400-$500 when I bought the NGC coin (can't remember the exact price and too lazy to dig, because I just got home). My coin is in the SDB for my expected boy (any time now, doctor said November 10th)..... When I have some spare time, I'll try to get a couple photo to share. Until then, anyone else bought additional coins from third party like Goldmart or bought the regular PF coin from the mint. We still have about 2 month left. I would like to get one of the regular Buffalo PF coin but probably don't have the cash.... I will use the fund to buy the remaining ABT P-mint and some S-mint business strike regular ATB.
