I've got four kiddos, so I imagine their collections will grow substantially from becoming involved with this club. They appear like a wonderful group of folks.

In case any of you are in the Willamette Valley in Oregon:

I always think of JBuck now when I see any Ikes. :) Nice to have a coin club! I could imagine there being some here in middle Illinois, just wouldn't have the time for one at the moment.

Wow!

Me likey.

Glad you had an awesome time with the offspring. The Eisenhower dollar is a bonus, of course.

Even Eisenhower is doing a chin strap. What's up with that?

More than 50 years had elapsed before I joined the ANS. (Australian Numismatic Society), the near equivalent of the ANA.

As a kid, I never had much to spend on coins.
As a teenager, I bought my first gold coin, but girls were more important.
As a family man, the family always came first.
As a widower, I now have the time, so I joined the ANS.

Coin clubs are a great way to make new friends with whom you share a common interest. Some of my best friends are those that I met at a coin club.

They're also a great place for me to learn about areas of the hobby that I don't actively collect. How? Through the educational programs presented, through show-and-tell among the members and just listening to other collectors casually talk about what interests them.

I'm currently a member of four different clubs and always enjoy my time at the meetings.

They certainly benefit from your attendance, as we have with your posting.

For the record, CCF is my coin club. Meetings all day every day.

However, I do enjoy meeting people at the coins shows.

One thing about coin clubs (and pretty much any other club), you get a lot more out of them if you are an ACTIVE participant. Become and officer in the club (They always have problems getting people to volunteer to fill the officer roles.), give talks, do show and tell presentations. I they have a newsletter, submit articles. They don't have to be long or overly professional, editors are always in need of articles. If they don't start one. If you just sit there and expect to be taught or entertained like unfortunately too many members do, the club becomes dull and eventually they start to die.
