I can't even think about V nickels right now!  I do plan on starting the Buffalo set after I'm more satisfied with my Jeffs. That may take a bit, though. In Memory of Crazyb0 12-26-1951 to 7-27-2020

I have that set and decided to do it a little differently: every thing except the keys in VF-XF with the exception of the 1883 No Cents as MS64ish. I put them in a vintage Whitman Felt board. It was a really fun one to do. I would like to build another higher grade set one day.

The Buffaloes will , as a set cost you more than a set of V-Nickels. I always thought (and I haven't done all the research) that Buffalo's would be more difficult to complete in decent (fine) condition. |

Or you could set yourself a $30 goal. Buy them all from dealer's junk boxes in NICE G6 ish... cost you somewhere from 25c to $1 each - depending on the junk boxes.
You can do the entire set at a big coin show except for the 1885, 1886, and the D and S 1912s...

My above goal is F to VF condition. It's just to easy to put a cull, AG or G set together that would look like heck! I need something more challenging that would look halfway decent when it's done. |

Yes, that is the Whitman board I used. I have started a Buffalo nickel board but have a ways to go. |

Quote:True, but I like the Buffs way more.  I think a mint state Buffalo looks much nicer then a mint state Liberty nickel. The design/engraving of the Buffalo is just much more appealing IMO. Just thought a Liberty Head Nickel set would be easier to complete. |

Never really liked the buffs - not enough field space on the obverse, looks like the head was crammed into the coin.
