It's a great feeling to put that last coin in the slot! I recently experienced it when I finally got the 16-D to finish off my Merc set. Congratulations Ralph!

Gone for the weekend, and I'm a little slow in catching up on my email - thank you to all who responded to this topic.

One Red Cent - a 1913 is a semi-key, and a good start - congratulations, and good luck on your set.

Weerdsteev - the 16D was the last Merc that I got too, so I know what you're talking about - congratulations to you on finishing that set!

I've read where some folks give the advice - collect the key dates first, but that doesn't seem to work for me. I have a tendency to begin with the common dates, and, when I've got the majority of them in an album, it gives me an incentive to save up for the keys - almost like I'm driven to fill them holes. :)

Ralph - In your initial post you said, "I now have all the business strikes from 1892 through 2008 (with the last 8 Franklin Proofs to add to the mix)." Does this mean you have the the 1916 SL Quarter, too?

No sir! I was referring to half dollars only in my original post. My quarters collection is complete from 1924 through 2008. I do have all but 6 of the SL quarters, but the 1916 is not one of them.
Just as an afterthought, I would add that I, also, have all but 3 of the Barber quarters - circulated, of course.

Ralph:
Nice piece, no problems, and should slab G-4.

Also, nice on those quarters!
I am fairly prejudiced on all Barbers, and 'accumulate' all better dates.

Finishing any Barber series is quite an accomplishment

Of course, those last three are $1000+ toughies so I imagine a lot of collectors leave those holes open

Yeah - those three holes will definitely be empty for a looooong time. My pockets just aren't that deep.

Another afterthought :) - I have all but nine of the Barber dimes, as well (circulated, of course).

Good luck on the dimes, at least they won't hurt your pocket as much as the quarters.

Ralph,

Completing any collection of Barbers is
quite a feat and congratulations are in
order !

I'm still working on a raw collection of Half Dollars
for my old Whitman Bookshelf albums. I'm down
to one in VF 20-30. [ No...not the Micro O because
there's no space for it - Thank God - otherwise it'd
never get completed. ]

Again, great job !

I've been fortunate to pick up a few things
here and there since I last posted. Mostly
upgrades for all three sets [ Dimes, Quarters
and Halves ].

Don't know how to post here - but - I'll figure
it out somehow.

Sweet, some day I'm going to do that. G-4 or G-6 in my book.

MS-65, sheesh.
