My first every cherrypick was a 3 legged 1937 D nickel. Bought it off ebay for $1.50 and got it graded through ANACS.

My largest profit pick was probably a group of three Standing Liberty quarters that I bought for under $200 raw and after being slabbed were worth a whole lot more than that.

Here is a shocker of a find in a box of random foreign coins all for 20 cents each; this dealer just didn't care what got thrown in there, everything was 5 for a dollar (got this and many other goodies all yesterday)
An 1858 Canadian large cent in approximately VFish but with minor corrosion but I can live with that since this is a key date, and my second one of that.

If we talk about the best deal picking, for my was an 1907 $20 High Relief, Wire Edge (Regular Strike) for an surprising for me at one auction somewhere in a small town of Connecticut for 900$ (Back in 2014). Me I buy as bullion and when was in my hand I was high jumping. The PCGS give me MS 64 and not what I hope to has an MS-66. Sorry no pics, it is in the vault.

@ mrwhatisit

What orientation has the coin? Is coin or medal? It is a FV or BS coin? Better pics will help me to see but not the orientation. I am interested in leaf 9 and 13.

It is in medal alignment or position. As to variety, the only thing I can see is a broken vine at 9:00, but everything else seems intact including leaves 9 and 13 per coinsandcanada...

I'm told this 1909 S is a rare find. Found CRH'ing.

nice find on 1909-S (1.8 million minted)
By comparison, the 1909 VDB mintage was 28.0 Million
and the 1909 was at 72.7 million.
Of course the really rare one is the 1909-S VDB at 484 thousand

My best so far. I think the 1966 LMC DDO, I found roll searching, and recently 1970 s FS-107 TDO. Purchased 1 proof set in an auction for 25.00. The 1966 I sent to PCGS (still waiting on). I think I'm probably going send the 1970 off as well. Thinking I might try NGC this time. Not sure yet.

Hey there!

I've done loads of cherry-picking and roll hunting over my years. I'll list some of my favorites/rarest finds below!

1858/7 S-1 FEC (VF-XF.to be graded), a cherry-pick:

1857 Obverse Clash with $20 FS-403 (~100 of these are known to exist), an expensive cherry-pick:

The first 1858/7 S-1 FEC I ever cherry-picked, which is now PCGS graded VG-10. A sentimental and pretty cool piece:

1857 S-8 Reverse Clash with 25C, a cherry-pick:

1917 DDO-001 FS-101, a roll find (the second one I've found in a roll! They're out there!):

I have a whole lot more roll finds and Lincoln Cent varieties I've picked/found over the years but these are just a few of my favorite bigger finds. I'm a big FEC collector and have been sinking my cherry-picking efforts into that series more the last year or two, so Lincoln Cent pickups have nearly completely stopped but I have accumulated a nice collection of rare varieties in the series.
