Thank You, FsdWarp10, -makecents-, and Greasy Fingers

that makes going through all those coins worthwhile

Yes, it did!

If you did list it for sale...in its condition I think raw would sell just as well

Haven't decided on that yet.
I should sell it, unfortunately (?), I have a "bad" motto:
"I got it cheap, so I can afford to keep it"

Outstanding find @snailking1 Hold on to it and keep it! This coin needs to be listed in the Cherrypicker's Guide! It's the only known variety in the ENTIRE Presidential!

The long ray on this coin was "for some reason" INTENTIONALLY modified from it's original design on one of the working dies. Why?.....who knows! And no one is talking.

This coin in my opinion is a major sleeper! If it ever gets listed in the CPG, the price could surge depending on condition.

BTW @snailking1 An acetone bath might help that coin.

What else would you look for besides the elongated ray?

Some Presidential dollars are missing the edge lettering
There are quite a few DDR's on the presidential series - though most are (IMO) unimpressive.

There is a "wide rim" variety of 1979P Susan B Anthony dollars

The "wounded eagle" Sacagawea dollar

Some NIFC Sacagawea dollars

I also found several Die Trail Presidential dollars

Oh, I also found a circulated proof.

This is the first I've heard of this variety! Where and how would a newbie collector learn of such varieties?
